  • Ecology:

The rehabilitation of the two buildings from the early nineteenth century was made by retaining to the maximum the original status and materials: wood (oak, beech, douglas), stone (rubble stone, sandstone and flint), brick, raw land according to the technique of “bauge”.

Modern materials were used sparingly, and only when possibilities with old materials were not possible or could not used with skill by the artisans.

In the same way, a maximum of new techniques respecting the environment were used:
-> Production of hot water by solar panels.
-> Heating by a wood granular boiler.
-> Isolation of the outer walls with a cellulose wadding.
-> Recovery of rainwater for non-food uses.
->Double flow ventilation with a static heat exchanger.
->Canadian or Provencal shaft for the pre-conditioning of fresh air.
    -> Self-purification on plant filters.

    Historic :

The gite corresponds to a farmhouse of an agricultural building.

From south to north follow :
A cowshed for milkers, surmounted by a hayloft

A so called barn for oats
On the half floor, a place to stock corn, and below, a first followed by a second cellar, where were stored potatoes.
    Barn for hay
A « charreterie » surmounted by a loft to store barley (this place has totally disappeared)

The parallel road, before being named by the town council « rue des prairies » (which no longer exists) was named by the road users « chemin des granges » (path of barns), in the proper sens of the word, that is to say a building to store the harvest of a farm.
Those buildings were built by the ancestors of the current owners, the sixth generation to own by affiliation date back to the nineteenth century.
